我校学生胡楚淇同学参加了由北京市教委主办、北京市国际教育交流中心承办的第三届首都学生外语展示系列活动，并获得初中组一等奖。本次活动以弘扬中国传统文化，展示首都学生外语风采为目的，有近6000名中小学生参加。经初赛、复赛选拔出的100名学生参加决赛。选手以“我和我的中国梦”为主题，分为“我是演说家”和“中华才艺展示”两个比赛环节。
胡楚淇说：“这次活动决赛阶段的准备时间很短，只有一周的准备时间，我在得知消息的第一天晚上写好稿子后，就与班中的助演嘉宾贾雨崎投入到了排练之中。在这期间老师、同学、家人给了我很多帮助和鼓励。当我站在北京电视台的演播室中面对评委与观众，我很有信心。我是最后一个登场的，所以本身会有压力，不过站在台上后就只觉得是在和别人交流讨论了，并没有想其他的。享受比赛的过程很重要。”
My dream, My Chinese dream

When I was young, the “dream” was already a sacred and mysterious word in my own dictionary. It seems that, for most people, when they talk about their experience of success, dreams always play an important role in their lifetime. I started to wonder why dreams were so powerful and tried to find my own one. But still it was so far, like the glisten star in the sky, so bright but unreachable.
As time went by, I kept asking myself what my dream was, but there was no accurate answer. Until I got the chance to take part in the Year of Chinese culture in Italy with my schoolmates and We performed the waist drum dancing before thousands of Italian audience. That was certainly not an easy job. We spent several hours everyday training for months. But, when I stood on the stage and saw all the foreigners enjoy our performance, I felt that all the hard working was worthwhile. We performed it in about 6 different cities around Italy, tired and exhausted, but our passion never faded. The shinning glance of other people always made me satisfied. During this tour, what impressed me most is that, one time, when we almost finished performing the waist drum dancing, a little girl came and asked to look at my wrist drum closely. So, I taught her some simple movements in plain English as I put the drum around her. She laughed. That laughter was sweet and innocent and it surely touched me. It made me proud of our Chinese traditional waist drum dancing. I firmly believed that people around the world would get to know more about China.
Since then, I have made up my mind to be a cultural ambassador. I am always willing to spread Chinese culture to other people, to let foreign people know more about China, especially the people that have Chinese ancestry. I want to be a cultural ambassador. I’m sure when I lead people into the path of Chinese culture, its own charm will urge them to go further and further.
Recently when my father asked me what my dream was, I found that it was no longer a difficult question for me. I guess this is my Chinese dream at the first place, to be a cultural ambassador.
How do I realize my Chinese dream? I think there is only one answer, just like the same thing as I did before I went to Italy, working hard and never giving up, learning about Chinese culture as well as other cultures so that I can open up the channels of communication with people. This answer may be common, but it’s real.
Now, dream is still like the glisten star in the sky, but it doesn’t matter if it’s unreachable, because I know it will always be there to guide me, never fades. I will only get closer and closer to it, because I have the faith in my heart, because I have the Chinese dream.
